Eye clinic
চক্ষু ক্লিনিকA full eye examination for adults and children. We check how well you see, measure you for glasses, look at every part of the eye and check its pressure, then explain what we found and what to do next.
What we do
- Sight tests for distance and reading, with picture charts for children who cannot read yet
- Measuring for glasses (refraction), with eye drops for children when needed
- Checking the eye pressure, to find glaucoma early
- Examining the front and the inside of the eye, including eye checks for people with diabetes
- Treatment for eye infections, red eyes and other eye diseases, and referral for an operation when one is needed
Good to know
- Bring your glasses, and any eye drops or medicines you use.
- If drops are put in to widen your pupils, your sight may be blurred for a few hours: come with someone if you can.
- If you have diabetes, have your eyes checked every year, even when you see well.
Eye surgery
চোখের অপারেশনCataract and other eye operations in our own theatre. Before the operation we explain it, the choice of lens and the cost, so you can decide; afterwards we see you again to check that the eye is healing.
What we do
- Cataract operations (phaco and small-incision), with a new lens placed in the eye
- Operations for pterygium, lumps on the eyelid (chalazion) and other eye and eyelid problems
- Tests before the operation: the eye is measured for its lens, and blood pressure and sugar are checked
- The WHO surgical safety checklist at every operation
- Check-ups after the operation, usually the next day, after a week and after a month
Good to know
- Bring a list of the medicines you take, especially for blood pressure, diabetes or thinning the blood.
- Come with someone who can take you home after the operation.
- Use the eye drops exactly as you are told, and come to every check-up.
Contact lenses
কন্টাক্ট লেন্সContact lenses fitted to your eyes, not only to your prescription. We measure the eye, try lenses on, teach you to use them safely and see you again to check the fit.
What we do
- Measuring the front of the eye and checking the tears before fitting
- Trying lenses on to find the right fit: soft lenses, and rigid lenses for eyes that need them
- Teaching you to put lenses in, take them out and keep them clean
- Check-ups to make sure your eyes stay healthy in lenses
Good to know
- Bring your glasses, and any lenses you already wear.
- If an eye turns red or painful, or your sight gets worse, take the lenses out and come to us.
- Never sleep in your lenses unless we have told you that you may.
Vision therapy
ভিশন থেরাপিTreatment for eyes that do not work well together, a lazy eye, or short sight that keeps getting worse, mostly in children. A programme of exercises, glasses, patches or drops, with regular check-ups to measure the progress.
What we do
- Lazy eye (amblyopia): glasses, and patching the stronger eye
- Problems with focusing and with the two eyes working together, which make reading tiring
- Slowing short sight (myopia) in children, including low-dose atropine eye drops
- Regular check-ups to measure how the eyes are doing
Good to know
- Therapy takes weeks or months: coming to every check-up matters.
- Time outdoors in daylight every day is good for children's eyes.
- Bring your child's glasses and any earlier eye reports.
Glasses
চশমাGlasses made to the prescription from our eye clinic, or to one you bring. We help you choose a frame and the right lenses, take your measurements, and check the finished glasses before you take them home.
What we do
- Single-vision, bifocal and progressive lenses, and glasses for reading
- Lens coatings and tints
- Frames from our shop, or new lenses in your own frame
- Every pair checked against the prescription before it is handed over
Good to know
- Bring your prescription, and your old glasses if you have them.
- We tell you the day your glasses will be ready.
Dental clinic
ডেন্টাল ক্লিনিকCare for teeth and gums, for adults and children. The dentist checks every tooth, the gums and the mouth, explains the treatment you need, and treats you here.
What we do
- Check-ups of every tooth, the gums and the mouth
- Cleaning and scaling, and fluoride varnish to protect the teeth
- Fillings, root canal treatment and extractions
- Care for children's teeth, milk teeth included
- Toothbrushes, toothpaste and other products for keeping teeth clean
Good to know
- Tell the dentist if you take blood-thinning medicine, have diabetes, or have ever reacted to a numbing injection.
- Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, and come for check-ups even when nothing hurts.
- Come quickly for a swelling, a broken tooth or pain that does not settle.
General medicine
জেনারেল মেডিসিনA doctor for everyday illness and long-term conditions. The doctor listens, examines you, checks your blood pressure, pulse and weight, and gives treatment and advice, or sends you to the right clinic.
What we do
- Fever, coughs, stomach problems and other everyday illness
- Check-ups and treatment for high blood pressure and diabetes
- Checks of temperature, pulse, oxygen level, weight and BMI
- Tests when they are needed, and advice on diet, smoking and healthy living
- Referral to another of our clinics, or to a specialist, when needed
Good to know
- Bring your earlier prescriptions, test reports and the medicines you take.
- With diabetes or high blood pressure, come for check-ups even when you feel well.
Pharmacy
ফার্মেসিThe medicines on your prescription, in the same building, so there is no need to look elsewhere. Each medicine comes with a label saying how to take it.
What we do
- Medicines prescribed by our doctors, each labelled with how and when to take it
- Medicines checked against any allergy on your record
- Medicines registered in Bangladesh, with their expiry dates checked
